01Pet hair and clean mornings are what they praise

27 voices are about keeping up with shedding pets and 23 about waking up to clean floors; the model read 25 and 22 of them as positive.

02The cloud is a worry, much of it in one thread

33 voices are about running a robot locally, off the cloud, or about a brand dropping support; 18 of them sit in one Home Assistant thread. Outside it, like #128: “This is an absolutely underrated point that most people skim over. After the bankruptcy, the new owners aren’t willing to support older models like yours anymore, and don’t really care how loyal customers feel about that.”

03Mess and money are the fears

12 voices are about a robot spreading a pet's mess and 11 about one failing just outside its warranty, like #211: “I disagree with this completely. Error 13 on my Roborock s8 , terrible support and extremely complicated repairs (unless you have experience removing and soldering capacitors). All right outside of the warranty period.”

Counts are of the 502 voices we read (Reddit, Amazon reviews), not of everyone. Themes are a model's sorting; the counts of that sorting are exact.Robot vacuums · Audience voice

How we read it

What we read, how it was sorted, and what it cannot tell you

What the box said. “robot vacuums”: a category, which we read as Robot vacuums. No one brand was read.

Reddit. 24 threads and 426 comments from 8 subreddits, found by searching Reddit for “robot vacuum”, “best robot vacuum” over the last 12 months (Reddit's relevance order; up to 30 threads, up to 20 top comments each).

Under the brand's posts. A category report: no one brand's posts were read.

Amazon. 52 reviews of 3 products found by searching Amazon for “robot vacuum” (the top products by ratings, sponsored listings left out): per product up to 10 most helpful reviews, then up to 10 most helpful critical ones (1-3 stars; slide 3 gives each product's count read). The critical pass is there so complaints show; it is not the share of buyers who complain (Amazon's own star split is on slide 3).

Dates. Reddit 13 Apr 2026 to 26 Oct 2026; Amazon reviews 6 Mar 2018 to 24 Oct 2026; read October 27, 2026.

The themes. A model (Gemini) named the themes from an even sample of every source, then read each of the 502 voices, noted whether it was about Robot vacuums, its category or neither, and put 139 of them in a theme: 315 are on-topic but fit none of the themes, and 48 were off-topic. The counts are exact tallies of that sorting; the sorting is a reading, not a measurement.

The quotes. Every quote is one voice, stored as written and shown whole. No usernames. Voices that name someone's account, carry a link, or name or describe a private person are counted but never quoted (0 were left out for naming a person). Pasted repeats count once (2 left out).

What it cannot tell you. These are the people who chose to write, in public, where we looked: a sample, not your customers as a whole, and not a survey. A count says how often something came up in what we read, not how many people feel it.

The evidence. The HTML version of this report lists every voice we read, by theme, with a link to where it was written.

212026-09-24Reddit · r/homeassistantI would like to buy a vacuum robot but I do not have any knowledge so far what to look out for. Basically, I want a device that cleans very well but does NOT send any data to a cloud service. It must run its neural network based control logic or whatever completely local. NO INTERNET CONNECTION must be required. I have an engineering background and like to keep track about what data is exchanged with the manufacturer, but I do not want to put any custom firmware on the robot. It should work out of the box. Price does not matter that much.

1292026-04-13Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsLook into Home Assistant. I can still run my 980 locally and schedule or stop it through automation there. You do have to do some technical stuff getting the BLID and password using some Python software called Dorito980 or something like that, but once you have that info, it can talk to it directly. Roomba practically invented cloud enshitification.

1322026-04-13Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsI think if your roomba uses the irobot classic app and not their new app there's a non-zero chance that those models will be eventually dropped.
1452026-09-20Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeMy neato D4 was replaced this year after the servers closed and we basically couldn’t control it any longer. It ran three times weekly for 8 years in a ~100 square meter house. Battery was replaced once; filter every 4-6 months and brush perhaps 3-4 times in its lifespan. Not bifl but honestly pretty good and if the servers hadn’t closed I think it could have worked another 3-5 years, and honestly I was pretty impressed.

2542026-07-14Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeI’m not sure any robot vacuum (or piece of technology) would fall into BIFL category I bought a flagship Roomba S9+ when iRobot was at the top of their game. It has been a solid purchase for me. Just a few months ago they were in the very edge of bankruptcy. If they did become insolvent, my vacuum would have become a paperweight overnight. That’s all it takes. Not a hardware failure. Not a software glitch. Most technology relies on its parent company existing AND that company supporting its product. If that doesn’t happen, it doesn’t matter how great the product is.
2572026-07-14Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeThey won’t run at all without wifi?
3722026-09-11Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsThe older style Roomba 650 series. It's just a vacuum. There's no wifi or b*******. It keeps the time and date and will vacuum on whatever dates and times you set it. Very basic no b******* vacuum with cheap parts and are easy to change at home with one screwdriver if anything ever happens to it.
3902026-09-24Reddit · r/homeassistantThat product does not exist. All robot vacuums on the market today have a cloud connection out-of-the-box.
3912026-09-24Reddit · r/homeassistantReally? I did not know that. Why is this even the case?
3922026-09-24Reddit · r/homeassistantNo, there are still some. The Anker Eufy Robovac 11S, for example.
3932026-09-24Reddit · r/homeassistantnot shown: off-topic
3942026-09-24Reddit · r/homeassistantBecause 99.99% of users want this as a feature and would not purchase the product at all if it had no cloud connectivity
3952026-09-24Reddit · r/homeassistantAll robot vacuums want to connect to the Internet. The best solution is to simply not do that. Then you have a dumb robot, but hopefully one that works. Some robots you can connect to the cloud once, set up with HA, then block it from accessing the cloud again. For a robot vacuum that works in dumb mode (never connected to the internet) I have a Roborock Qrevo Curv 2. I haven’t bothered to set it up with HA at all (because I never want to connect to the cloud) but it works pretty damn well as a vacuum
3972026-09-24Reddit · r/homeassistantYou're going to want to put that engineering knowledge to use. You will need to buy a Robot Vacuum that's supported by Valetudo, and then modify the vacuum to run Valetudo, which is not a risk-free thing.
3982026-09-24Reddit · r/homeassistantIt does take some tinkering but the payoff is worth it, full local control and no cloud nonsense The flashing part can be nerve wracking the first time but the valetudo wiki has step by step guides for most supported models, just read through twice before you start Also worth checking the supported hardware list carefully since some models are easier than others, you want one with a known good root method
3992026-09-24Reddit · r/homeassistantBuy I cheap used Roborock S5 and add Valatudo to it. Not the best robot, but it is easy to install on it. Then try on a more advanced robot later :)

4022026-09-24Reddit · r/homeassistantThis question comes up a lot OP, you're absolutely not the only person looking for this. As others have said, Valetudo is really your main option. The setup is pretty easy, though complexity on gaining access to the service port on the vacuums varies. Dreame, for example, needs a custom breakout board, but there's a Telegram channel where they get circulated. By the way, I'm amazed at the comments that have appeared this time - this is the Homeassistant sub, where is this "just accept cloud as a requirement" vitriol coming from?

2142026-07-20Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeRoborock Q7 M5+ is $250ish. I have a German Shepherd and two cats in the middle of shedding season and it keeps the hair very manageable. The dust bin on our Dyson isn't even a quarter full when we do a deep vacuum every few weeks, that's how good of a job it does. You'll never find anything as good as a hand vacuum, but having anything run nightly on a schedule will make a noticeable difference.
2152026-07-20Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeUsed to have a shedding nightmare in my old apartment, the kinda dog hair that forms tumbleweeds under the couch For $250 that's a steal if it handles a shepherd in shedding season, mine would clog the brushes on cheaper ones every 10 minutes and then just push hair around instead of picking it up
2202026-07-20Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeFor budget reasons, Shark is the answer. They are I think still the only company that does bagless robot vacuum. It’s suction and cleaning is okay, not best but not the worst but punches way above its price. However, not buying bags is a game changer. Mine works great for my thick haired doggo.
2242026-07-20Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeI picked up a used EUFY L60 a few months ago with the self-emptying station for like $50. Gave it a quick clean, put a new bag in the station, and pressed the power button. I don't have it connected to wifi and don't use the app. Has helped with cat hair and kitchen crumbs between cleanings and does pretty well with large floor transitions and medium pile area rugs.
2292026-09-09Reddit · r/CleaningTipsYes so good for under sofas and beds which realistically I would rarely be vacuuming myself tbh! But they get soo much cat fur under them - ours is always full even if we run it very frequently, it’s crazy

2752026-10-14Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeMy old roborock was still going strong after 5+ years. Just had to replace consumables such as brushes & filters regularly. Keep sensors clean, clean the wheels, remove tangled hair from brushes and use a pressured air cleaner to clean out inside the non-removable parts (sounds more than it is but nothing is 0 maintenance if you want it to last). Through I also did 2 deep cleans. It was still going strong when I sold it. Only sold it since I needed a model that can handle pet hair.
3192026-10-25Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsEufy Omni pro 2. Vacuums and mops. We have two heavy shedding dogs. I run it 2-3 times a day. Had Pro 1 before and the upgraded suction is so much better in new model. $1500 on average. Look for deals. Walmart had S2 for $1300 with an accessory kit too recently. 3842026-09-07Reddit · r/MOVA_robotvacuumV50 has been rock solid vacuuming and mopping for me. Most robots would not suck up pet hair from my carpets, the v50 does thanks to the dual brushes and pretty good suction - I do have it vacuum on max suction. For mopping it does great with clearing up foot/shoe prints or paw prints. It’s not going to really mop up some thick heavy stuck on stain but that’s understandable for me at least

4482026-07-24Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsI like my dreame 50. House is about the same size as yours, and I have two Shibas that shed a lot. I have not had a hair tangle and I've had this thing running continuously for more than a year. It mops pretty well, though I'd recommend getting it hard plumbed, if you plan to mop a lot. The plumbing kit was a few hundred dollars, installed. Mine is hooked into the washer / dryer hookups, and since my Dreame lives in the laundry room anyway, it was a no brainer. It is quirky, though. However, it has some nifty features, like pet cam, that you might like.

692026-10-20Reddit · r/RobotVacuums"Gerald" as we call our Mova P50 pro ultra is pretty much a member rid the family now he's that good. Our 2 year old says good morning to him when he comes out. Having a plucky little machine mop and vac your floors every morning is fantastic. No more arguments over who is going to do the vacuuming and the floors are always crumb/hair free (2 cats and a dog).
732026-10-20Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsShe won't begrudge you after she sees the results. We literally spend no time vacuuming unless it's a specific thing we need cleared right away, like cereal or flour spilled Got a mopping and docking one for the in-laws. They love it and have even named it.
742026-10-20Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsI have had mine for 18 months, just a month shy of owning my high shedding rescue dog. There was no way I could vacuum my floor every day and the filth drove me crazy. The joy I get from having clean floors is indescribable.
762026-10-20Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsI didn't convince her, I just bought one and suffered a week's worth of the silent treatment. I saw it as a way to make life easier on both of us. the only thing we now do manually is vacuuming the stairs. She came around eventually. Well, she is talking to me again. That's progress of a sort.
772026-10-20Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsI agree with all the positive feedback. One unexpected lifestyle benefit: it’s made cleaning up before and after guests SO much easier that it has made me more likely / less stressed to have visitors. Clean floors make such a huge difference.

442026-07-29Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeman with 7 cats you need a robot that can also do therapy sessions for real tho the mopping ones still struggle with chunky stuff like puke, you'll be cleaning the robot after it tries to eat that. get something with big dustbin and good hair detangling , the cat fur will clog cheaper models in 2 days
542026-07-30Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeMy guess is that it will spread out the cat puke instead of removing it....

1912026-09-15Reddit · r/CleaningTipsMine chewed the hell out of the cat litter mat. Until it became clear that it cannot distinguish a cat poop from the black mat. Twice. Now the mat is a no-go zone. Otherwise it’s an amazing tool, way better than a Roomba or Neato.

2472026-09-09Reddit · r/CleaningTipsOh gawd. Yeah, there's that too. Our cats don't go beyond the catio/back garden. So far, no disastrous spreads here! ETA: typo.

4312026-07-24Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsThat’s what I’ve heard, but scared that if a cat pukes and I don’t catch it that roller will run over it and paint my floors with it
4352026-07-24Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsRobots with good obstacle avoidance can dodge messes like that but it likely won't be 100%. Ultimately that's going to be an issue with any robo vaccum or mop. Robots spreading pet messes around has always been an issue. You'll probably want to do a quick walk through to make sure there's no messes prior to running the vac. With 6 cats I would make sure your bot is one with anti tangle brushes. Longer hair will wrap itself around some brushes and stop them up quickly.
4362026-07-24Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsAll the robot vacuums can have that problem but with a roller style it would result to less dirt because roller style mops usually cleans themselves while mopping while two seperate round mops doesn't.
4372026-07-24Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsRoller mops will "catch and contain" the puke more than spinning style mops.. but object avoidance could be critical for you even more so, so it can avoid the puke in the first place... it's probably worth doing some research to find out which vac have really good object detection. Roller style mops have more maintance but it's not bad, and probably worth it for you (as long as you can also find one with extremely good object recognition). lastly, a really good vacuum with anti-tangle (like a split brush or similar) would be really good for you I think.

By 24 months (their warranty) the unit had stopped being able to charge on the dock, the sweeper no longer worked, and the internal wifi is broken so I can't even connect to it to make it work. When I asked for a replacement, Roborock support told me bad luck it's out of warranty by 2 weeks, please spend all lithia money and we will "service" it. Roborock. NEVER AGAIN. It was never much better than my old basic one from like 6 years ago anyway.

842026-08-22Reddit · r/HomeKitI love my roborock but I hate that they promote AI cable detection avoidance yet it still manages to tangle itself every single time.
852026-08-22Reddit · r/HomeKitThe thing does have some torque though. It managed to rip down a table lamp and drag it through my entire condo until it finally got the lamp cable wedged under a door. In general though, other than that incident and the occasional pushing the bathroom door closed to trap itself, very happy with my Roborock, including the Matter support and HomeKit Automations .
1882026-10-15Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsMostly less work, but some of it moves to the dock. The dirty water tank is the part people forget. If mop water sits in there for a few days it can start to smell, so it ends up being an empty and rinse after mop runs instead of a weekly thing. With a 2 year old, clearing the floor first is part of the work too. Socks, toys and cords can still stop a run halfway, even on the ones with obstacle avoidance.
2002026-09-15Reddit · r/CleaningTipsBought a $1000 roborock because I cannot stand the dog hair all over the floor.  Only downsides are that you have to regularly maintain it (clean the cleaner) and i would have thought that by 2025 it would run over less items/cords.
2012026-09-15Reddit · r/CleaningTipsI got a cheaper one off Amazon. It was not at all worth it. I had to babysit the thing to make sure it didn't get itself stuck or suck up anything it shouldn't. It was also never successful at getting itself back to its charging dock on its own before dying. I realized it was faster just to vacuum myself It wasn't bad for banging furniture though, it had sensors on the front to prevent bumping into things and bumpers so that even if it did impact it wasn't hard. Main design flaw seemed to be that it couldn't "see" things under 3cm tall
2602026-07-14Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeI have a Roborock Q8 max+ . It’s not completely hands off as you have to clean out the bin, stuck hair on the device, etc. We prep the house before use picking things up, water bowls, blankets, toys, etc. It has been very reliable over the past 2 years owning. It also cuts down on the task of vacuuming a lot.

452026-07-29Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeI figured there won’t be one that’ll be able to truly handle all the workload on its own. Next thing you know, we have 7. She’s a truly kind person. I knew what I signed up for haha.

602026-07-31Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeShark Power Detect Robot. Does a vacc pass, then mops, then goes and spot targets any stains that it detects with UV. It also has turd detection so it doesn't spread anything across the house. Robot empties itself into the dock, so you don't have to dump out the contents much (maybe more often with 7 cats...) Been really good for us all far at keeping the house clean. Disclaimer I do not have 7 cats but I've not had to remove my wife's curly hair from the robot (yet) I would assume that that volume of fur will get anything eventually.

802026-10-20Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsUnfortunately, a traditional vacuum cleaner is still the best option for carpets or rugs if you have pets, especially if the vacuum cleaner is equipped with a rotating carpet brush. The reason for this is that a robot vacuum cleaner cleans the same spot no more than twice—if it has this feature at all. A robot vacuum cleaner works very well on hard floors, but less so on carpets.

962026-08-22Reddit · r/HomeKitThey have designed the product to be lasting, not having a new release every year. Instead they actually listen to the community and provide meaningful software updates. Also, it’s literally never gotten stuck, so it needs zero hand holding, which I can’t say the same about Roborock.

992026-08-22Reddit · r/HomeKitWe had been using a cheapo Roomba for a few years, which stunk. I recently got the Roborock QX Revo Plus at Costco for $599. This thing is badass - there are tanks for clean and dirty water, it washes the mop pad after use, it's all self-contained. I am using it on a floor with hardwood and big area rugs, and I'm really happy with it so far. It maps out the floor, you can avoid pet food areas, etc. I may put one more in my upstairs level as soon as floors are done. I mostly use the app, but "Hey Siri clean the second floor" is the shortcut that does the routine, so it's fine.

1232026-04-13Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsiRobot went bankrupt recently and was acquired by Picea , a Chinese company that started making their robots a little before the bankruptcy. They started lagging behind in innovation, so despite their best-in-class carpet cleaning and repairability, they just didn't really have what it took to beat the other guys in terms of navigation efficiency and features for the price. Now, they're just another company, with, IMO, nothing that majorly distinguishes them over the competition.

Highly recommend for daily or several-times-weekly cleanings. You'll still need to do more thorough vacuums occasionally the old fashioned way.

I absolutely love them as a lazy person who detests vacuuming but has two cats - I run them every other day or so and always have clean floors! I’d definitely recommend Roborock, but not the auto-empty version. Because of the cat hair, the opening where the waste is supposed to get sucked out into the bin always clogs. Maybe it would work better in households without pets. I just empty the bin by hand after every run.

2162026-07-20Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeCurious how loud the roborocks are in your experience? I have a Roomba S9+ , which I hate for numerous reasons, but one is the noise. It's not unbearable when you're downstairs and it's on our carpet, but when it hits the hardwood it sounds like someone is dragging a hand mixer across the wood. I can't take meetings when it's on, let alone sleep.
2172026-07-20Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeYou won't be watching TV while it's running in the same room, but we've run it through the house at night and it doesn't wake anyone up. The auto empty is fairly loud when it's on max power, but that's like five seconds every 15 minutes.

2252026-07-20Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeRoborock sucks. Mine lasted 10 months before crapping out. Luckily right before 1 year warranty. No online documentation. Can’t easily repair it yourself. The app is annoying to use. It would constantly get stuck, pick up chargers, socks, hair ties. Not sure if that’s the case for all robot vacuums. I finally got them to send me a shipping label after going back and fourth through email over a few days (they only respond overnight) with them trying to diagnose my robot.
2272026-07-22Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeI recently got the Ecovacs Deebot T90 Pro during Prime Day. I have a husky and live in a very dusty area out in the country. Place looks great everyday. Only have two complaints. One is that the mop doesn’t seem to put as much pressure to get some stains out but handles 90% of them so I call it good. The other is that the app doesn’t have a way to do a whole room as mop only. Eufy has this so it was a bit of a bummer.

2492026-07-14Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeYou should be able to get more than that out of one. I got a low-mid range one about 10 years ago, and it still runs just fine. It's now my upstairs vacuum, which runs less often because we (and the dogs) sirens less time up there. I got a new upper-midrange for the downstairs 3 or 4 years ago, and it's been good ever since.  They do require maintenance, cleaning, and occasional parts replacement, but they're far from dead.  Both are Roborock. Parts can be sourced directly from them or Amazon/eBay/AliExpress knockoffs.

2592026-07-14Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeI inherited one, never thought I’d like it, but it does keep the floors (I have dark wood - don’t do this) clean, between regular vacuuming and mopping. It’s an old, non-app iRobot (at least I couldn’t get the app to connect). Just push the button and get out of the way. Good Luck.

2632026-07-14Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeLong term investment is not, that's for sure. It's a convenience spend. Whether it's worth it or not depends on how much you hate mopping/vacuuming.

2702026-10-14Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeI have a Roborock S5 (not max) bought in 2019. Had to replace the dust bin because the plastic thing that "clicks" when inserted cracked, which made it difficult to remove the dust bin. And I had to replace the battery because the run time was dramatically reduced. Other than that, still going strong.

2832026-10-14Reddit · r/BuyItForLifeOn our 2nd Eufy. Got one in 2020 and it lasted until 2025. Brushes, filters, and such are easy to replace and clean out. Motors/wheels and other components aren’t too hard to replace- it’s like a practical remote control car if you ever toyed with those. My first Eufy had its vacuum motor die which is in the very belly of the robot. I replaced it but must have nicked the motherboard somewhere which caused it to spaz out and turn on at random times during the day and sometimes stop in the middle of cleaning. If it’s on sale, it’s definitely worth it.

3012026-10-15Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsYes it is . 3092026-10-25Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsA rotating mop like the edge 2 (non flow) can reach a little further, right up to edges, but the flow gets close enough to not notice the tiny bit of space it misses. In a practical sense it mops essentially the entire visible floor

4252026-06-26Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsSo dreame L50s which has same specs of L60 Ultra PE from US market is current top choice of vacuum wars. But one thing about dreame (and probably Mova robots, which is a subsidy of dreame), their wheels are noisy. Roborocks are quieter. But other than that I never had any brand specific issues with dreame. So if I’m was choosing between the three, I’d choose L50s.
4262026-06-27Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsIf the l50 has the same magnets mop pads as the l40s ultra ae I would be careful, had that one and one it’s first run the mop popped off when it grazed the edge of a rug that was on tile floor. 4272026-07-03Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsI have the Ecovacs T90 Pro Omni and it’s been good for mostly hard floors. The roller mop handles daily floor marks really well, and the dock keeps maintenance pretty easy. It has been great for me. Even if not the Eufy, I would highly recommend a roller mop. I have cats and enevitably the mops that just drag a pad around would pick up a pebble of litter and then chalk up my hard wood floors dragging it around. I don't have that issue with a roller mope.

4432026-07-24Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsHow is the mopping?
4442026-07-24Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsYou can adjust for the level of water and “intensity” of the mopping. I didn’t do that for the first pass on my tile and it looked good from a distance, up close, you could see it needed more. Doing that now. It also has the ability to “extend” its mop pads to get under cabinets etc, I love that feature. If I had the budget, I would have bought the highest model I could, as many have mentioned on this subreddit, but reality is this is already fantastic because the battery life is really good, the app is fairly easy and the initial mapping has been super easy.

4462026-07-24Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsHas anyone had a model last more than 2 years? How are parts for them?
4472026-07-24Reddit · r/RobotVacuumsI love my euphy C-10 , rn you can get a refurbished one off eBay for $150 +\\- Doesn’t mop but love it anyway. Big dirt bag and maps your rooms on its own. Turbo option and easy to use app.

4512026-09-30Amazon reviews · iRobot Roomba 105 Vac Robot Vacuum - Easy tI love my iRobot. It has made my life much easier and does a great job keeping the floors clean with very little effort on my part. One word of caution: make sure loose cables and cords are secured before running it. It can catch them and accidentally unplug things. Mine has disconnected my WiFi and clocks! Once I learned to keep the cables out of its way, it has been excellent. Very happy with this purchase.
4522026-09-23Amazon reviews · iRobot Roomba 105 Vac Robot Vacuum - Easy tSo far, I love it. Had it for about two weeks. It cleans amazingly. It does randomly get hung up on stuff, so you do have to make sure to pick up beforehand. Battery life is not the best. Our home is not very big but it will get down to about 30% battery life then go charge for a few hours then continue cleaning. Not the end of the world for me. I’m just glad that I don’t have to run the vacuum every day. Especially with cats and cat litter. It has some quirks to it, but not anything I can’t live with. For the Price, you can’t beat it.

4592026-10-13Amazon reviews · iRobot Roomba 105 Vac Robot Vacuum - Easy tThis is my first experience using a robot vacuum, and overall it does an okay job. It struggles with picking up the stuffing from chewed dog toys, but it handles kitchen-floor crumbs pretty well. The battery life isn’t great — it usually only manages one room per charge. At this point, it feels more like a robot broom than a true robot vacuum.

4622026-09-18Amazon reviews · iRobot Roomba 105 Vac Robot Vacuum - Easy tI was going to return because while vacuuming, the dust bin falls out when passing over a floor register or room transition strip. After checking the internet, I've learned it is a well known issue for this model. I decided to keep it and use a couple of velcro straps and squares to secure it. Works great. Cleaning is as well as my older Roombas, 500 series and 700 series. The mapping can be tricky with an open floor plan, but merging the map into one room, saving, then splitting to separate rooms worked. I think if they improve the latch for the dust bin it would be 5 star for the price.

4642026-10-24Amazon reviews · iRobot Roomba 105 Vac Robot Vacuum - Easy tNot the best i have ever had, but works. The power i believe should be better, maybe if it didn't go so fast, it would be. I have a very old irobot e3 and it works better.

4672026-09-07Amazon reviews · iRobot Roomba 105 Vac Robot Vacuum - Easy tBought this Roomba to replace an old one that had problems with charging. The good - Does much better at cleaning than the old model and the new charge station is a real upgrade. The not so good - absolutely no set up/ start up instructions are included. The iRobot web site used for my old vacuum has been replaced. After finally finding a "customer service" phone number in the warranty information, it was a Spam number. Would not order unless you are somewhat tech component.
